1Who we are and what this covers

In short: Vectis Works, of Nashville, for this site and the business emails we send.

Vectis Works makes shop-floor dashboards, software and data systems for manufacturing companies. Our office is at 100 Powell Place #1170, Nashville, TN 37204. Two things fall under this policy: the website at vectisworks.net, and the business emails that Vectis Works sends. Wherever the words "we", "us" or "our" appear, they mean Vectis Works.

2Visiting this website

In short: no cookies, no analytics, only routine hosting logs and a font request.

Browsing here places no cookies on your device, and no analytics run on any page. The company hosting the site records routine technical logs, for example the IP address and the kind of browser used, so it can serve the pages and keep the site protected. Our typeface is fetched from Google Fonts, so Google Fonts sees your IP address as well.

3Why and how we contact people

In short: people whose jobs connect to our work hear from us, until they say stop.

Our messages go to people at manufacturers whose jobs connect to the work we do, for example those running operations, plants, engineering or IT. Mostly we write to a work email address. A phone call, or a letter sent to the business address, is rare but does happen. We get in touch only where our services might matter to the company, and a request to stop ends it.

4The information we hold

In short: work contact details, company facts, public business activity, email checks and our exchanges with you.

• Work contact details: name, job title, employer, work email and business phone, plus the web address of your professional profile, whenever those are available.
• Company facts: the industry it is in, its size and location, its name and website, and its business address.
• Public business activity: job postings, news stories and posts anyone can see.
• Deliverability checks: a test of whether an email address accepts mail, so messages aren't sent to ones that bounce back.
• Correspondence and notes: what you write to us, and notes we make on our conversations.

Section 2 covers what a visit to this site records. Sensitive information is never collected: nothing like government ID numbers, bank or other financial account numbers, or details of your health.

5Where it comes from

In short: public sources, companies that supply business data, and what you tell us.

• Sources open to the public: news sites, job boards, professional networking profiles and company websites.
• Commercial suppliers of company data and business contact details.
• You, whenever you write back, send us a form or have a conversation with us.

6What we use it for

In short: judging fit, writing to you at work, and honoring requests to stop.

• Deciding whether your company might have a use for our services.
• Getting in touch at your workplace about what we offer.
• Confirming an address is valid before we send anything.
• Replying to your messages and, at your request, discussing or providing our services.
• Keeping a record of everyone who asked not to be contacted.
• Securing our systems and complying with the law.

Whether you open an email from us is not something we track.

7Asking us to stop

In short: say so in a reply; it takes effect promptly, within 10 business days at most.

Answer any one of our emails and say you want them to end. The wording is up to you. If we call, telling the caller has the same effect. We act promptly, and 10 business days is the most it can take. After that, we keep your name and work email on file, marked do not contact, so no future message goes to you, even if your details reach us again from some other source.

8Who we share it with

In short: no selling, no renting, and sharing only in the three cases below.

Selling or renting personal information is something we don't do, and neither is handing it to other companies for their marketing or for targeted ads. It goes only to:

• Providers that work for us: mailbox and email services, email verification tools, suppliers of business data, and companies that host or store data. They are allowed to use it solely to deliver their service to us.
• Authorities or others, where a law demands it, or where it is needed to protect rights, property or safety.
• Whoever buys or takes over our business, who then has to go on protecting it in line with this policy.

9How long we keep it

In short: as long as it serves its purpose, while opt-out records stay.

Business contact records stay with us while they help us reach businesses. Records that go stale are refreshed or removed. For clients, records are held as long as the engagement and our accounting and legal duties call for. Opt-out records are kept for as long as we are still contacting businesses, so a request never lapses.

10How we protect it

In short: need-to-know access and sensible safeguards, with no promise of perfect security.

Only people who need the information can get to it, and reasonable organizational and technical safeguards are in place. Even so, no system can be made completely safe, and we do not claim absolute security.

11Your rights

In short: ask what we have, fix it or remove it, and expect equal treatment.

You may ask us:

• what we hold about you, and the source it came from;
• to fix anything that is inaccurate;
• to erase your details, except the note that you asked not to be contacted, which has to stay so your opt-out holds.

Some state privacy laws, California's among them, may add rights depending on where you live: the right to know what is held, to correct it, to delete it, and to say no to its sale or sharing. Neither selling nor sharing happens here. Asking for any of this won't change how we treat you.

Send a request by replying to an email we sent, by filling in the form at vectisworks.com, or by writing to the postal address in section 15. To verify a request, we may ask you to confirm the address our email went to. We answer inside the time limit set by law. An authorized agent can submit a request on your behalf too.

12Children

In short: our work is aimed at businesses, not at anyone under 18.

Everything we offer and send is meant for businesses. We never knowingly gather information about a person under 18.

13Where we operate

In short: a US business, in touch with US businesses.

Our base is in the United States, and the businesses we contact are there too. Your information is processed in the US and in any country where our service providers work.

In short: a new version means a new date at the top.

Any change to this policy comes with a new date at the top of the page.

In short: post, a reply to one of our emails, or the contact form.

Replying to any email we have sent you works as well, and so does the form at vectisworks.com, which reaches the same people.
